DEMERITS IN ONLINE MODE OF EDUCATION
This Covid-19 pandemic situation pushed the education system into online mode. This online mode of education is a positive thing in one hand, but on the other it caused negative impact on education among the students. It reduces the interests of students on studies. These online classes distracted the students by some online advertisements and unwanted posters. It also affects them both mentally and physically. And also in the country like India, online mode of education is quite impossible to give education to all the students in the country. Still its difficult to stops the rate of dropouts.
The major victims of this online education are the students from rural areas. They aren't familiarized with gadgets and online resources. They were marginalized from this new normal period. Buying a costly gadgets is not possible thing for them. Already the rate of school dropouts is high in India, this pandemic and online education quite increased the rate. Many schools and colleges in rural areas didn't have the basic facilities like toilets, proper classes etc., then how can they suddenly switch over to the highest mode of education. These kind of students lost their education, like that students appearing online classes also lost in some other ways.
Students are easily distracted in the online classes. They didn't gave more attention on class, they were distracted by social medias and some unwanted online posters. We can see the comments by students in the social media like '' who are watching during online class''. These distractions highly reduced their interest on studies. Its quite horrible to watching the digital screen for hours. Home didn't made the atmosphere like physical class room. These online classes made them to found books on online which is also a difficult thing for them.
The next major difficulty is finding study materials from the online resources. Online resources only had the limited materials about the topics, that's also offered a basic information. These online resources didn't offered the vast knowledge and also it didn't give the satisfactions that physical books give. These online resources didn't have the old edition of books and many books are not available as a pdf, some e-books are not in a good condition. Students have struggles to find the standard materials on this online resources. Some online articles give a contrast and wrong information on the topics. To collect the materials, they spend lots of time in gadgets, which leads them to both physical and mental illness.
Spending more time in digital screens affects them both mentally and physically. The lights from digital screens causes many eye problems and made them more tired. Sitting in a place for long hours without moving made them more worse. It is more stressful to spend lot of times on gadgets. Work load is more in online classes compared to the physical classes. Online classes didn't offer a space for interaction between the students and teacher, it caused a drift between them. This lack of student teacher relationship make the students more horrified on the subjects. Network connection is also reason for this lack of interaction.
Students didn't get a high network connection every time. Some times students faced the poor network connection which alienated him from the class. Due to this poor network connection, students couldn't follow the class and couldn't engage with the teacher. These network issues made them more stressful. Some may not attend the online exams, due to this network issues. This is the major obstacle for the inline mode of education.
Really its good to engage the students through online in this pandemic, but it had more demerits. Government should rectify the demerits and make it available for everyone is more beneficial thing to the students.
