Thesis Statements

1.     W. B Yeats’ poetry can be considered as a contemplation on Irish Renaissance since he used Irish myths and legends and mixed his personal life with political issues in his poetry.

2.     In The Metamorphosis, Franz Kafka illustrates an intense claustrophobia and preposterous premise to represent the protagonist’s self-inflicted guilt and misery.

3.     Reading develops a child’s mind by teaching him about the world around him, fostering comprehension skills, improving concentration and by exposing him to a new world.

4.     Sylvia Plath’s poem Daddy tells her turbulent relationship with her father who was a strict authoritarian.

5.     By comparing and contrasting the lives of the animals before and after the revolution, the outcome of George Orwell’s Animal Farm suggests that power will eventually corrupt good intention.

6.     High levels of alcohol consumption have harmful effects on our personal health such as heart disease, weight gain and liver implications.

7.     The Unknown Citizen by W. H. Auden is a satire on the modern societies which demands slave-like conformity from its citizens.

8.     She Rose to His Requirement by Emily Dickinson is a voice exclusively for women since it is a powerful poem with elements of feminism.

9.     The novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding portrays the theme that regardless of each person’s different background and characteristics, every individual has the ability to commit brutal acts.

10.  Libraries are very important for the progress and development of the society as they are the storehouse of knowledge and help to develop reading habit.

  8. Good ideas. The 1st, 8th and 9th statements could have been succinct. The 6th one is a fact.
