A master’s degree in English offers a wide range of job opportunities. Be it in the field of research, academics, public sector or private sector, a graduate has a lot to choose from. Right after graduating, one can go further in academics by appearing for NET exams and also securing fellowships. Research in the field of English language and literature is also possible.

To get into academics, one must undertake extra training and appear for qualifying exams like NET (National Eligibility Test) and SET (State Eligibility Test). To become a teacher in schools, B.Ed. is also an added necessity. Another form of teaching that not many choose is Teaching English as Foreign Language. This gives a person the opportunity to travel as well have a career. Soft skills training is another prospect that is fast growing these days.

A master’s degree offers a well-rounded knowledge in writing and reporting. Hence one can also opt for digital writing as bloggers, content writing and creative writing. Proof reading, copy writing are all option if one has good writing skills. The print media is also a good option and the go-to for English graduates. Newspapers, magazines and publishing houses often look for graduates with good writing and communication skills.

Translation is another fast growing career option. With English becoming the universal link language, there are constant translations being made for easy access by the global audience. Many people opting for competitive exams often choose an English degree because it helps with their writing skills, an absolute necessity for cracking these exams.

While the options may be plenty, it all comes down to having a good set of skills, be it writing or communication, under one's belt to excell in any field. Hence a person must work to perfect these while studying itself for better results.
