      A Master's degree in English language and literature is the gateway to a promising career. Today the future options for MA English students is not only limited to conventional teaching profession but also to diverse professions in media, journalism, writing, etc. This two year course is actually an all round training programme for the student to perform in any field or profession.

    For an MA English graduate primarily teaching is the first career option. One can attend national and state level eligibility tests (NET, SET), which are the basic qualification for a teacher in colleges and higher secondary schools, at the time of pursuing masters degree. After pursuing a research degree in English one can become a professor in colleges and other higher institutions. An important thing to remember is that a B.ed degree is required to teach in schools. Spoken english training centres, E learning companies, entrance coaching centres, etc. are also places where an MA English graduate can seek for the post of a teacher.

     The writing skills acquired by an MA English graduate is an effective tool for a career. As writers one can get employed in several sectors such as publishing, technology, advertising, business, media, etc. In the field of media and journalism one can aim for jobs like reporting, proofreading, editing, etc. Another important career is as a content writer. The scope in the field of writing content for various websites and blogs, as part of digital marketing, is increasing on a day to day basis.

     Translation is another major area of opportunities. Along with English, if one is fluent in a regional vernacular language, then he or she may get a job with a publishing house. Nowadays there are chances to get a job with an online publication platform. Copywriter, corporate communication executive, instructional designer/ subject matter expert etc. are also options for MA English graduates.

    The critical thinking and analytical skills gained by these graduates equip them to prepare for civil services and other prestigious posts in union and state administration. Literature broadens the perspectives of the students and through the analysis of a wide range of literary works, they are closely connected to the society and its inhabitants. This also enables them to be a part of various service sectors and work with NGOs and other organisations for the welfare of the society.

    In short, the job prospects of an MA English graduate is innumerable and the major prerequisites for a better career after graduation are effective communication skills, willingness to work hard and the confidence to perform in any field or profession.

  The elements of equivocator overshadows throughout the tragic play  Macbeth  by William Shakespeare. Equivocator is a person who bends the language to deceive someone from interpreting the truth hidden in it. Equivocation was a defending strategy used by Jesuits in Shakeperean time to save their lives from the protestants.   Equivocation in Macbeth can be examined in the light of historical events. The playwright uses equivocators to condemn and criticize the act of equivocation practiced by the Jesuit Priests of  England, who planned the gun powder plot to execute the king James I of Scotland . Throughout Macbeth's life equivocation is playing crucial roles from his transformation into the king to his tragic death. In Macbeth there are more episodes of equivocation, compared to a single episode in Shakespeare's early play Hamlet , which was written in 1599.
